Installation:
The installation for this mission is the same as on other Custom missions.
In case you are unfamiliar with installing custom missions, do the following:
Unzip the files to a temporary directory. Next, move Trench.tie into your
COMBAT directory. Now you'll have to edit the .lst files. In your
xvt\combat directory find Imperial.lst, Rebel.lst, and Mission.lst. Open
each one up, scroll to the bottom and add the following lines of text:

97
Trench.tie
The Death Star Trench Run

...And you are ready to play. NOTE: If you are a fellow mission builder
and don't like me using the number 97, I'm truely sorry. I'll change the
number for further relases if you e-mail me about it.

Important Notes(PLEASE READ ALL):
I tried to make this mission as TRUE to the movie as possible. Unfortunately
You MUST understand that it's not possible to make is EXACTLY like the movie
for various reasons. This is why I put out this request: PLEASE, PLEASE
make changes to this mission to make it more true to the movie. I'm looking
forward to seeing what you can achieve because, after all, there are ways
around EVERYTHING. Here are some suggestions for improvement that I just
couldn't figure out how to do with my editor.

*Get STD's to fire at you while in trench. (Without changing position)
*Add custom waves.
*Add in-flight briefing to go along with this mission.
*Get all STD's to blow up upon destruction of the Exhaust Port.
*Whatever you can think of to improve it's trueness to the movie.

When you're done, e-mail me informing that you've made changes to the mission
and I'll give you the go-ahead to mail me the mission. (The reason for this
is that I can only hold 2 megs on my e-mail server. Therefore I can only hold
2 or 3 missions on my server.) Once you get the go ahead, just e-mail me the
zip and tell me whether or not you'd like to be mentioned. (NOTE: Unless you
don't know how to, please zip up the files.) I'll take the best qualities of
each submission, and combine it to the original to make different versions of
the mission. Then under the versions, I'll list the changes. (NOTE: I will
only take the best... if two people submit custom waves, I'll take the best
SET.)

Realism Issues:
*****To get into the Trench, just turn left (in Luke's craft) and you'll see
many STD's Lined up. Then fly not INTO the side of the STD, but along the
side and Ease your way in. (You'll have to rotate 90 degrees for it to look
like a "U" instead of a "C"). Also, be aware that the trench looks small, but
it's large enough to fit TWO starfighters side by side, I believe. This all
may sound complicated, but hopefully you'll see what I mean when you get in
the cockpit.
*****In order to make the mission really true to the movie, I
suggest that you play it Multiplayer. With two people, I suggest one person
play Luke and the other be Vader. With four people, I suggest that one person
play Luke, one be Luke's escort, one person play Vader, and the fourth be
Vader's escort. Also, when playing Multiplayer, I suggest you establish some
rules. For example "No flying above the trench to the Exhaust Port." or "No
getting missle lock on the Exhaust Port and firing from 2.5 clicks out"
*****In XvT, the CORT's don't have lasers. Therefore, when the Falcon comes
in, it'll use concussion missles to take out Vader's escorts.
*****If you want to be more like Luke in using the force, Don't TARGET
ANYTHING! If you do hit the target button on accident, it's ok. You can
target the patrol craft called "Trench End" and when crusing down the trench,
Just wait till you get close and see the Transport that represents the
Exhaust Port. You can then fire at the Trench End and make sure that your
Missles will hit the Transport. I personally don't approve of locking the
Port, because then you CAN'T miss.
*****Many more, but you're probably sick of reading.

Destroying all the Star Fighters attempting to destroy the Exhaust Port.

* Construction Information for Mission *

Base : New mission from scratch
Mission Builder(s) Used : XVTC
Construction Time : About 15 hours. This mission required PERCISE
measurements... I was also struggling with XVTC.
Last mission I ever build with XVTC...
Known Bugs : I couldn't reprogram the game... Only human
players (if they choose) will fly down the trench.
On the bright side, it will appear they are flying
			   down it, from a distance.
Also, when in the trench, your lasers will be
momentarily jammed in certain places. (You'll see
                           why when you play it.)
Report (or fix) any more you find.
